Mentorship Program for Emerging Professionals and KSU Students

SHRM Portage County is proud to serve as a mentoring organization for the Kent State University Student HR Association and for members of our chapter.

Chapter Member Program:

The purpose of the Chapter Member Mentorship Program is to provide developmental opportunities for entry-level HR professionals who are members of the chapter.

This one-on-one mentorship is designed as a defined relationship between an HR professional with in-depth knowledge of their field, helping entry level HR professionals hone skills, discover opportunities, and make connections they can carry into their careers. The desired outcome is for the HR professional to provide entry level professionals with valuable insights and guidance, such as practical advice, industry knowledge, and networking opportunities.

The type of mentorship opportunity is based on the need of the emerging professional.

Student Program:

The purpose of the Student Mentorship Program is to increase the touch points between HR professionals who are members of the chapter with students who are members of the Kent State student chapter of SHRM.

This is a one-on-one mentorship designed as a defined relationship between an HR professional with in-depth knowledge of their field, helping students hone skills, discover opportunities, and make connections they can carry into their careers. The desired outcome is for the HR professional to provide students with valuable insights and guidance, such as practical advice, industry knowledge, and networking opportunities.

To participate in the program, students will complete an online application to match the student with a Mentor. The length of the mentorship is determined by the mentor and mentee.

Examples of resources provided:
